Last Saturday we got to take the boys to their first baseball game. Thanks to Jodi and Jason we had free tickets and had the best time! I knew the boys would be so excited to go, but was sure that after a couple of innings they would be done and ready to go. Boy was I wrong! We got there about an hour before the game started because they were giving out free bobbleheads. Well let's just say that we were there in plenty of time and ended up with five bobbleheads. (And yes, we had to tote them around everywhere we went!) It ended up being perfect that we got there so early because we were able to take the boys down to the field and see the players up close. They loved being right up close and getting to see all the action. We got some cute pictures of the boys with all the glory of Chase Field in the background. As you can see, Trey wore his cleats and batting gloves to the game, and was proudly sporting them in this picture.

Next, we were off to the Sandlot! Whoever came up with this idea is a genius! The boys loved the Sandlot. Their favorite part was the mini baseball field, with a man dressed up as a Diamondback pitcher. He pitched to the boys and then they got to run the bases. The line for this little attraction was quite long, but the boys braved the line four times just to get their chance to play ball at the Sandlot! I loved seeing them watch so intently as they waited for their turn and then to see them out there thinking they were hot stuff was so fun! Here are a few pictures of them playing ball at the Sandlot...

Kyson focusing and taking a swing. He was so funny because he spent most of his time and energy banging home plate getting ready for the pitch. He was all business!

Trey was all set with his baseball gear and apparently it paid off. He smacked the balls with all his might and took great pride in running the bases. He is one cute baseball player!

We spent time at the Sandlot several times during the game. Just as the game was beginning we went and found our seats...way up high! We watched two innings from our seats and then were headed back to the Sandlot. During one of the innings a player hit the ball so hard that it broke the bat. The boys thought that was awesome!
After spending more time at the Sandlot, we headed to find a Coldstone Creamery to redeem Trey's birthday coupon. The employees were so nice and even sang Trey a birthday chant! When I gave them the coupon they told us to keep it and use it again at another store. Trey really lucked out and got to get two free ice creams in celebration of his birthday. After chowing down on Trey's ice cream we asked if we could go down to the lower level to finish watching the last inning of the game. The worker gave permission, but said it was only on account of "the boys being so cute and the fact that they had just eaten their supper." (He had been watching us share the ice cream) What a nice guy to let us watch the game up close. The Diamondbacks won the game and when it was time to go the boys were so disappointed it was all over. They were not ready for the night to end! Go Diamondbacks!
